A Maryland boy is missing, his mother is dead and his mother's estranged husband has been arrested and could be charged with killing her, police said Thursday.Police who went to Jane McQuain's Germantown apartment Wednesday to investigate a report that her son had not been in school for days found her body in her bedroom, CNN reported. Her son, William, 11, her Honda sport utility vehicle and some of her possessions were gone.Curtis Lopez, 45, was arrested Thursday morning in Charlotte, N.C. Neighbors said they had seen him taking items from the apartment after Jane and William were last seen almost two weeks ago.Lopez has been charged in the death of Jane McQuain, The Washington Post report. He has spoken with investigators but has not said whether he knows where William is, the newspaper reported, citing two sources it said have knowledge of the case but who spoke on condition of anonymity.Ronald McCombs, who said he and Jane McQuain were in a relationship several years ago, told The Washington Post that Lopez and McQuain had been estranged for years. Lopez was sent to prison in Pennsylvania in 1987 for a near-fatal stabbing.McCombs said McQuain stopped drinking about seven years ago."I have never seen someone do a turnaround in her life like she did," McCombs said. "She always said that she had nothing else to live for but her son. She loved little Will."
