An Asian housemaid in Yanbu was arrested after she allegedly decapitated the 4-year-old daughter of her employer with a cleaver on Wednesday. The parents were at work at the time the alleged crime took place. The crime that shocked the community in the industrial town of Yanbu unfolded at the Alo’yoon district. On arriving home, the mother was unable to enter the house, the maid having locked it from inside. She called her husband who was at work. He rushed home. Driving at high speed he collided with another car carrying a family. The collision killed one of the passengers and injured a young girl who was hospitalized along with the father of the maid’s victim. He had called Civil Defense before he left work, seeking their help to open his apartment door where his wife stood. Civil Defense workers broke into the house, entering with the mother. They found the child slain on the bed in the parents’ bedroom. The mother reportedly collapsed and is in hospital since then with her other daughters. Civil Defense received the father’s report at 1:30 p.m. The mother reportedly pleaded with the maid to open the door in vain. The maid reportedly attempted to commit suicide by drinking quantities of detergent. She is now at Yanbu General Hospital under strict guard. Yanbu Police has examined the crime scene and investigations are under way, said Madinah police spokesman Col. Fahd Al-Ghannam. The case will be referred to the Bureau of Investigation and Prosecution, he added. According to media reports, the maid is in her 30s and had been working for the family for the last three years.
