A Emirati man who beat his son to death for doing badly in his school exams has been sentenced to three years in prison, an Abu Dhabi court ruled. In addition to the jail time, the man, identified as R.M., was ordered Wednesday to pay $54,451 in blood money to his family, Gulf News reported. Prosecutors said that in December, R.M. found out that his 12-year-old son had done poorly on a school exam. He then beat the boy with a computer cable until he collapsed. The defendant fled the scene after the beating but was later arrested by Abu Dhabi Police.
