A magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Myanmar Sunday morning, killing at least one person and leaving five workers missing, authorities said. China's Xinhua News Agency reported the fatality and more than 100 other injuries occurred in Singu, located in northern Myanmar, formerly known as Burma. At least five aftershocks were felt, local experts told the news agency. The fatality was a man killed when a brick wall of a restaurant collapsed, an information official said. The five missing workers had been on a bridge under construction that collapsed into the river. Xinhua said pagodas, residential houses and school buildings collapsed in Shwebo, Singu, Mandalay and Tabaitgine. The temblor occurred about 7:40 a.m. local time at a depth of about 12 miles.
