The death toll in yesterday's devastating earthquake in India's north-eastern state of Sikkim has reached 40, including 19 casualties in Sikkim alone, five in neighbouring state of West Bengal, two in Bihar, and seven each in neighbouring country Nepal and Tibet, reported Times Now TV channel today. The number of injured people has been put at 100. Relief and rescue work is being carried out on a war footing in the affected areas. Yesterday, an earthquake measuring 6.8 on Richter scale had hit the state last evening, leading to deep cracks in buildings and snapping phone and power lines. The epicenter was located at the India-Nepal border. The quake was so powerful that it was felt even in New Delhi, nearly 1,000 miles away from Sikkim. MYZ .
