Louisiana officials confirmed Tuesday that 11 persons killed in the historic flooding that swamped the state over the past week. Devin George, state registrar for vital records, said Tuesday the latest confirmed death occurred in Rapides Parish.

His office later increased that figure to more than 30,000, according to (Fox News) Beginning Friday, a torrent of about 2 feet of rain inundated the southern part of the state over a 48-hour period, and days later many homes and businesses were still underwater.
While some areas were entering recovery mode, the governor warned new places downstream could see flooding and that officials are still in search and rescue mode. "I don't know we have a good handle on the number of people who are missing," the governor said.
