A high velocity storm wrecked havoc in northern India leaving three people dead and 70 others injured, government sources said Monday. Sources said the storm struck the states of Punjab and Haryana on Sunday night, uprooting trees and severely disrupting electric supply and plunging large areas under darkness. The winds blowing at maximum speed of 107 km/hr also damaged standing crops and blew away temporary structures in the region, sources added, "So far three people have been killed while 70 others are injured due to storm." The media reported that a young student got killed after he came under the debris following a wall collapse. The local meteorological office attributed the storm to a weather system which was hovering in the upper areas of north India.
