A politician at the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party was killed by a PKK militant attack in the Dicle district of southeastern Diyarbakir province on Monday night.
According to security sources, the PKK militants opened fire on Deryan Aktert, AK Party's district chairman in Dicle while he was at his workplace, Turkey's Anadolu Agency (AA) reported.
An investigation was launched to hunt the terrorists after the attack. The PKK resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015. Since then, PKK attacks have killed more than 600 security personnel and claimed the lives of numerous civilians, including women and children.
