Adam Mayes, accused of murder and kidnapping in the case of a Tennessee family, has been found dead in Mississippi, the FBI said Thursday. Mayes -- who was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of especially aggravated kidnapping for allegedly kidnapping a woman and her three daughters -- was found in Union County one day after he had been put on the FBI 10 most-wanted list. Daniel McMullen, FBI special agent in charge in Jackson, Miss., said Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol and state Department of Fisheries, Wildlife and Parks officers recovered Alexandria Bain, 12, and Kyliyah Bain, 8, "alive and unharmed," CNN reported. "Preliminary reports indicate that Mr. Mayes shot himself in the head and was later pronounced dead," McMullen told reporters. The bodies of Jo Ann Bain and her oldest daughter, 14-year-old Adrienne, were found last week at a home in Guntown Miss., that had been tied to Mayes, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said. The bureau said Mayes' mother, 65-year-old Mary Frances Mayes, and his ex-wife, Teresa Ann Mayes, were in jail after being arrested Monday. Teresa Mayes was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of especially aggravated kidnapping and Mary Frances Mayes was charged with four counts of conspiracy to commit especially aggravated kidnapping. An arrest warrant indicated Teresa Mayes admitted driving a vehicle in which Jo Ann Mayes and her three daughters were riding from Hardeman County, Tenn., to Union County. The two surviving sisters were "suffering from the experience of being out in the woods and from being kidnapped. They are suffering from dehydration and exhaustion, but appear OK," a federal law enforcement source told CNN.
