Police confirmed that Ammar Ateeuddin, 17-year-old Pakistani boy who went missing on Monday, was found dead of apparent drowning in Dubai Creek on Wednesday morning. A source at Dubai Police said the boy’s body had been taken to the Forensic Evidence Department where a post mortum will be carried out to determine cause and time of death. The body was found at 7am on Wednesday. Ateeuddin’s mother said they were taken to the Dubai Police headquarters and then to Ports Police Station to identify the body, where they did. They identified the clothes he was wearing the day of his disappearance but his facial features were slightly distorted due to decay. Ateeuddin had gone out on an errand at 11.30am on Monday in the Gold Souq area where he lives with his family and never returned, the boy’s father, Ateeuddin Moinuddeen, who is co-owner of a diamond trading firm in Dubai, earlier said. According to Moinuddeen, Ammar, who was a grade nine student in Pakistan, came to Dubai to visit on April 27 with his mother and younger brother. Moinuddeen filed a complaint about his son missing, at the Naif Police Station on Monday.
