Fire whose cause has not yet been established gutted down the Garissa police station near the border with Somalia on Tuesday evening. The mysterious fire that started at around 19:45 local time razed six offices at the Northeastern provincial police headquarters in Garissa town, Xinhua reporter at the scene said. The regional police commander, his deputy in charge of anti- terrorism police and Amoury were all gutted down. Firefighters were still making frantic efforts to put off the fire. Senior police officers watched helplessly as the fire razed down the offices. The cause of the fire has not yet been established. A visibly shocked regional police commander Phillip Tuimur said that thorough investigation would be done to establish the cause of the fire. "It is sad that this fire had to raze down the police station, we have lost important information. We will surely get to the bottom of it," Tuimur told Xinhua at the scene. Tuimur said they have launched investigation to the cause of the fire and the motive behind it as it comes amid increased grenade attacks in the restive region by suspected Al-Shabaab militia and their sympathizers residing in Kenya.
