A young Pennsylvania man is facing charges he illegally imported and possessed a wallaby found on the loose in Cambridge Springs, authorities said. The Pennsylvania Game Commission said Friday Corry A. Lewis, 22, of North East was charged with one count of unlawful importation of wildlife and one count of unlawful possession of wildlife, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported. Lewis could be fined up to $200 on each count. A commission spokesman said officers were led to Lewis by several tipsters after residents of Cambridge Springs reported seeing the wallaby May 30. It wasn't clear how he allegedly obtained the kangaroo-like marsupial that is native to Australia, or whether he released it or it escaped, the newspaper said. The wallaby was taken to a licensed wildlife preserve.
