Pakistani officials said a girl and an elderly woman were injured in disputed Kashmir region late on Tuesday night in shelling by Indian troops from across the Line of Control (LoC). The Deputy Commissioner of Kotli District of the Pakistani side of Kashmir, Masood ur Rehman, said two people were injured due to firing and shelling by Indian troops. He identified the victims as Nasrin, 17, of Dheri village, and Naseem Bibi, 50, wife of Mohammad Yousuf of Lanjot village. Masood added that Indian troops opened fire at 8 a.m. Tuesday and continued to fire till Wednesday morning. Indian authorities meanwhile accused Pakistani troops of firing at their posts along the disputed border in Kashmir for the third consecutive day on Tuesday. India and Pakistan signed a ceasefire in 2003, but the situation across the LoC became tense when Indian authorities claimed involvement of Pakistani authorities in an attack killing five Indian soldiers in Kashmir. The Pakistani Foreign Office and military authorities declared these allegations as baseless. Earlier on Friday, the Prime Minister's Adviser on Foreign Affairs and National Security of Pakistan Sartaj Aziz met Indian External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid in the capital city of Kyrgyzstan to discuss issues of mutual interest. The two leaders met during a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, and discussed matters relating to the Line of Control (LoC). According to an official press release, the two held talks on addressing reservations and security concerns of both party across the LoC, the heavily militarized de facto border dividing the disputed region of Kashmir between India and Pakistan. The officials also discussed the meeting likely to take place between Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh in New York, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly on September 29
