Former president and incumbent congresswoman Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo was safely transferred to a government hospital from a private one Friday afternoon, police said. Arroyo is currently under hospital arrest after the Pasay City Regional Trial Court ordered her arrest based on the election sabotage case filed by the Commission on Elections. Philippine National Police spokesman Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr. said Arroyo, who was moved out from St. Luke's Medical Center by land, arrived at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center at around 4:05 p.m. Police earlier in the day mulled to transfer Arroyo via a helicopter but her camp refused to the plan because of the rainy weather. Arroyo was supposed to be transferred to the Veterans Memorial Medical Center on Tuesday, but her lawyers managed to delay the movement for three days as her colitis needed to be treated first.
