Prime Minister Marouf Bakhit on Thursday stressed the important role of the Public Security Department (PSD) in preserving security and order and protecting citizens and their property. During a visit to the PSD, Bakhit valued the role of the department in providing a secure umbrella for all forms of peaceful expression of opinion. He also praised the PSD’s cooperation with probe into last Friday events at Al Nakheel Square in downtown Amman. Enhancing media freedom is part of the reform march, Bakhit said, highlighting efforts of the PSD over the past six months in protecting citizens and dealing with the demonstrators. The meeting was attended by Minister of Interior Mazen Saket, PSD Director Lt. Gen. Hussein Majali and a number of senior officers.
