A group of men attacked three Nigerian villages, killing 14 people in an alleged reprisal to an attack earlier in the week that killed four, an official said. Simon Mwadkom, of the Nigerian House of Representatives, said he believed Wednesday's attack was perpetrated by Fulani herdsmen, possibly angered by the killing of a kinsman Tuesday. The Fulani allegedly stormed a village in Barakin-Ladi Tuesday and killed three people, though the villagers killed one Fulani man in the incident, the Nigerian Tribune reported Thursday. The Fulani allegedly regrouped and invaded Dallyam, Ranghol an Lotton villages Wednesday, killing 14. "Nigeria is becoming a lawless country; people perform atrocity at will because they know they will go scot free. Killing innocent people is gradually becoming a natural phenomenon in Nigeria, governments at all levels need to rise to the occasion," Mwadkom said of the incidents. Sources close to the local government told the Tribune Wednesday's attackers were heavily armed with various weapons and destroyed many valuables in the villages.
