A second construction worker died of his injuries Friday, a day after after the accident at the FC Twente football stadium in the eastern Netherlands, a city spokesman said Friday. "It has just been confirmed that the building disaster at the Grolsch Veste has claimed a second life," Hans Lammerdink told AFP. A 24-year-old man died Friday afternoon of his wounds at an Enschede hospital, Lammerdink said. "The victim had been in a critical condition since the accident happened," he added. One building worker, aged 31, had died at the scene on Thursday. Of 15 people taken to hospital, six were still being treated, Lammerdink said. In Thursday's accident, the roof of the stadium partially collapsed during building work to increase the seating capacity space The popular club is based in Enschede, about 160 kilometres (100 miles) east of Amsterdam. Offices inside the stadium were reopened Friday after safety checks, but the stadium itself remained closed to the public, Lammerdink said. FC Twente plays in the Dutch first division and were league champions last year.
