Politicians in eastern Sudan warned against the expulsion of aid agencies amid concerns the impoverished region is on the verge of famine. Accord, Goal, Triangle, Save the Children, Plan Sudan and Malo face possible expulsion from three eastern states -- Kassala, Red Sea and Gadaref. The Sudan Tribune reported Monday the government prevented humanitarian agencies from accessing rebel-controlled areas in South Kordofan, accusing the agencies of plotting with Juba, the capital of South Sudan, against Khartoum. Salah Barkwayne, secretary of the opposition Beja Congress Party, told the Sudan Tribune the decision came despite the government's inability to fight poverty and famine.
