The 13-year old uncle of two children who were found drowned in an irrigation channel in western Greece, was arrested on Friday on suspicion of their murder, according to Greek police, in a case which has shocked the country. The bodies of the two brothers originating from Bulgaria, aged four and seven respectively, were found on Thursday at the outskirts of the village of Strefi in the Peloponnese peninsula, about 350 km western of Athens, after gone missing for hours. The two children were sent by their mother to deliver a package of food to relatives, according to police. Regional police director Aristides Andrikopoulos said on Friday that the teenage suspect confessed initially to his father and then to police officers that he pushed his nephews in the channel, because he was jealous of the attention they were receiving from the rest of the family. Initially police was leaning towards the scenario of a tragic accident, but a piece of clothing found in the channel widened the investigation.
