A procuratorate in central China's Hunan Province has ratified the arrest of a truck driver who allegedly ran over and killed a policeman. The driver, Wang Kun, is suspected of killing Li Xiaofeng, a traffic police officer at a tollgate on a highway in Shuangfeng County of Hunan's Loudi City on Oct. 9, according to a statement released by the Shuangfeng County People's Procuratorate late on Wednesday. It said Wang was arrested on charges of intentional murder. The driver, on his way from the southern Foshan City to Shuangfeng, bought a highway pass for 300 yuan (47 U.S. dollars), which he believed could exempt his overloaded vehicle from a road toll. When Li was trying to inspect the truck at a tollgate, the driver allegedly suddenly ran over him, killing the policeman at the scene. The procuratorate statement said Li was dragged for 60 meters under Wang's truck. The truck driver was detained immediately after the killing. It is not known whether the pass Wang bought was a fake.
