Death toll of Typhoon Bopha that hit south of the Philippines since Wednesday has risen to 400, while 379 are missing. The National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) announced receiving notifications of injury of over 400 people, while more than 231,000 people, of 49,000 families suffered from the floods. Local TV channels broadcasted scenes of army forces and rescue teams recovering bodies from under the rubble due to the earthquakes resulting from the typhoon. Typhoon Bopha hit shores in southern Filipino islands with strong winds at speed of 145 kilometers per hour, while it started to slow down on its way to the west. Around 20 typhoons hit Philippines this year, whereas 16 of them destroyed the infrastructure of the country, killing dozens of people, especially the one that hit last August, killing 100 people, while displacing more than a million. According to governmental statistics, Philippines suffered from 19 typhoons in 2011, while 10 of them were destructive and killed more than 1,500, and affecting 10 percent of the total population. Meanwhile The Indonesian authorities warned from Typhoon Bopha arriving from southern Philippines towards north east of the country. Indonesia's National Disaster Mitigation Agency reported that the typhoon might reach the islands of Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Maluku during the next 24 hours, with a speech of 130 kilometers per hour. The agency informed all regional centers and related bodies to take all needed procedures to face the destructive storm, and to spread awareness between people before and after the typhoon.
