A newly-wed groom committed suicide in Umm Al Quwain by hanging in his factory on Valentine’s Day night. Shinu Purushothaman, 28, from Trivandrum - the capital city of the South Indian state of Kerala - had returned to the UAE just last month after his wedding in India. According to his friends the motive behind the suicide could be the separation from his wife. An employee of United Gulf Polymers, Purushothaman was found hanging in the storeroom in his factory on the morning of February 15. An office colleague said Shinu was a very calm individual and no one ever suspected that he could commit suicide. “His marriage was on December 7. He returned to work only on February 11. He was very happy and jovial. He used to mind his own business and was very much involved with his job,” said Diljit. According to him the incident came to light when some staff in the factory went looking for him in the morning. “He always used to report to work on time. But on Wednesday we found his wallet and labour card lying on the desk. He was missing. Someone started searching and found his body hanging from the ceiling in the store. We immediately informed the police,” he added. Umm Al Quwain Police have confirmed the incident and said investigation is on to determine the cause of the suicide. “He committed suicide by hanging using a wire. He has left behind a suicide note. The body has also been sent for post mortem,” said the official. By Emirates247
