Two other children were in hospital last night after being pulled from the water. One was given CPR after suffering a cardiac arrest. All are believed to be from the same family. Rescuers had mounted a desperate search for the tragic man and child. They recovered the youngster’s body from the River Avon at Barford, Warks, at 8.30pm. The man’s body was found an hour and a half later. Both were confirmed dead at the scene. They had been in a small rowing boat. Cops will not release the names of the victims until they have been formally identified. A Warwickshire Police spokesman said: “All the emergency services have expressed their thanks to the people of Barford for their help and support during what has been an extremely difficult and tragic incident and their thoughts are with the bereaved at this time.” A woman resident named Ali added: “It’s a nasty weir. The river’s very high and the current’s very fast. “They got to the weir, the boat went over and there’s nothing they could have done.”
