Bahraini MP Latifa Al-Qa’ood Manama - Arab Today MP Latifa Al-Qa’ood affirmed the contribution of the Bahraini delegation to the International Parliamentary Union (IPU)’s recent meeting in Geneva, Switzerland. The Bahraini delegation participation culminated in several successes and accomplishments in promoting the Kingdom’s bilateral relations with IPU member countries. MP Latifa told Bahrain News Agency (BNA) that the Bahrain parliamentary delegation participated at the 130th Session of the International Parliamentary Union in Geneva and achieved major accomplishments for the Kingdom. The Bahraini delegation availed of that opportunity in boosting cooperation and explaining the true facts about Bahrain by meeting the greatest number of participating parliamentary delegations as such functions provide ample opportunity for interaction, cooperation and explaining the true facts. The delegation held several successful meetings and showcased Bahrain’s political and economic developments, she said. It was a positive opportunity to explain the actual security situation in the Kingdom and the role of some regional forces in undermining the Kingdom’s security and its stability. The delegation also cited the significance of the comprehensive national consensus dialogue aimed to surmount the crisis. The participating delegations have shown their understanding and support to the Bahraini position. The details of these meeting were publicized by various mass media. MP Latifa said that the Kingdom’s speech was delivered by delegation member Jamal Fakhro on behalf of Council of Representatives Speaker Dr. Khalifa Ahmed Al-Dhahrani. She said that MP Jamal Fakhro reiterated Bahrain’s commitment to developing the work of the IPU and effective contribution in carrying out its service of developing democracy, achieving peace and safeguarding human rights. Bahrain has taken long strides in boosting political reform and democratization and has become within a few years one of the most successful democracies in the Middle East in particular and the Third World in general.
