Females are detained at Damascus Central Prison Damascus - George Al Shami A source close to the Syrian National Coalition revealed to Arab Today that members of the Syrian regime's air force intelligence attacked female prisoners who had organised a hunger strike three days ago. Detained in Damascus Central Prison, the women began an indefinite hunger strike to protest against conditions in which they are detained. Their demands included the right to a fair trial, communication with their families outside and the need for medical attention. The Syrian National Coalition affirmed in a statement that "hundreds of Syrian female political prisoners live in terrible and inhumane conditions." The source added that the Syrian National Coalition has warned against a brutal reaction from government, calling on human rights organisations to monitor the situation of the prisoners located in governmental cells.
