Dawla seeks Arab condemnation Cairo - Akram Ali Egyptian political analyst and President Mohammed Morsi’s former adviser, Mohamed Esmat Seif el-Dawla, has condemned the Israeli airstrikes on Syria. "Israel never would have dared to strike Syria during when former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak was in office," he said. Dawla described the recent Israeli raid on Damascus as the latest in a series of crimes committed by Tel Aviv since 1948. In a television interview, he said he had resigned from his position as President Morsi’s adviser due to Israeli interference in Arab affairs, especially in the aftermath of the Arab Spring. The political analyst claimed that Arab countries’ silence in the face of aggression was tantamount to acquiescence to Israeli intervention in post-revolution states, and suggested that Israel was attempting to "rearrange the region to suit its will." Dawla accused Arab governments of sidestepping the issue in an effort to reassure the West and avoid aggravating the United States. The former government official denounced Arab countries’ sluggish reaction to Monday’s attack, and claimed that that it took some countries, including Egypt, over ten hours to respond. Dawla urged Arab nations in general, and the Egyptian government in particular, to categorically condemn the Israeli airstrike on Damascus.
