Leader of MB in Jordan, Hammam Said
Amman - Iman Abu Kaoud

Leader of MB in Jordan, Hammam Said Amman - Iman Abu Kaoud Leader of the Muslim Brotherhood in Jordan, Hammam Said, has claimed that ousted Egyptian president Mohammed Morsi is still the country's legitimate head of state. In a message to the group's members in Amman, Said warned of the wider repercussions of what he described as a "military coup" in Egypt. The Islamist leader said that Morsi had refused to stand as candidate in last year's presidential election, explaining that the Brotherhood has convinced him to lead the way. Said argued that Egyptians were free during Morsi's era, highlighting that the authorities have closed Islamic channels and imprisoned Brotherhood leaders since the coup. "A Muslim ruler always protects the rights and freedoms of his people," Said claimed. He also compared Morsi's approach to that of Muslim Caliph Uthman ibn Affan, saying that "even when he was forced to abandon power, he did not shy away from his responsibilities."
