Algerian designer Mohamed Bahari said that he prepares to launch his new collection for spring 2017, dubbed as "la Charmante Constantinoise", after the name of the province of Constantine, in eastern Algeria.
He added, in an interview with Arabs Today, that he was inspired of Indian and Turkish designs in his new collection, which are characterized by expensive stones. Most of the designs will be embroidered by hand or what is known in Algeria as "crank".
Bahari said that these designs are new uncommon type in Algeria. The collection will be also inspired the Turkish jewelry which were used by actresses in the historical TV series "Harem of Sultan."
Bahari said that he tried to combine the Berber culture heritage with modern designs, asserting that the combination of Algerian heritage and modern designs was highly popular in Algeria, and that this type of designs has witnessed high demand lately.
Bahari, 31, is a talented young designer and has a bachelor degree in Math. He was born in a well-educated family. His mother was a professional sewer, and he dealt with traditional models in Constantine.
Bahari aims to spread the culture of traditional Algerian clothing with a modern touch in the world, so as to keep pace with various Arab communities.
