Abbas praises UN move to raise flag of Palestine at UN headquarters

Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas has praised a resolution passed by the UN General Assembly to raise the Palestinian flag in front of the United Nations headquarters in New York.
He voiced appreciation for the countries that agree to defend the right of Palestinians and their fair cause.
"We will raise the flag of Palestine in Al-Quds soon," Abbas said.
On Thursday, the United Nations has overwhelmingly voted in favor of raising a flag of Palestine at its headquarters in New York City in a symbolic move giving hope to Palestinians to gain full UN membership.
A resolution was adopted with 119 in favor, eight voting against - including Israel and the United States - and 45 abstentions.
