Cairo - Arab Today

Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit on Tuesday condemned the terrorist operation in Yemen's southern port city of Aden on Monday morning.

Abul Gheit offered condolences to families of the victims.

Spokesman for the AL secretary general Mahmoud Afifi said this heinous operation is a new crime in a series of crimes committed by terrorist groups.

Minister Plenipotentiary Afifi underlined the importance of rallying efforts of the international community to stop any attempts targeting security, stability and unity of Yemen.

A powerful car bomb explosion rocked Aden, killing at least 71 young military recruits who were preparing to join government forces and wounding scores.

The explosion took place in the crowded Mansoura neighborhood around 8:15 am, a time when many people were outside commuting to work, officials said.

Mansoura has been the site of multiple attacks by militants in the past year.
