The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemned the terrorist attack perpetrated by a group at Taouremba, in Soum Province, Burkina Faso, leaving six people dead. OIC Secretary-General, Dr. Youssef Bin A. Othaimeen, reiterated rejection of criminal acts and stated that security is a common good of paramount importance for the Sahel countries. He affirmed that no one has the right to undermine people’s peace and tranquility.
Dr. Othaimeen offered his condolences to the families of the victims as well as to the Government of Burkina Faso. He urged the governments of Burkina Faso and Mali to coordinate the necessary actions in order to arrest and punish criminals in their respective territories.
The Secretary General of the OIC reiterated the ongoing support and solidarity of the organization to all the countries of the Sahel region facing the challenge of terrorism and fighting against this phenomenon in order to preserve stability and socio-economic development.
