Merkel offers condolences to Putin over plane crash victims

German Chancellor Angela Merkel condoled with Russian President Vladimir Putin over the victims of the Russian plane that crashed earlier Saturday in central Sinai, said a Kremlin statement .
The plane, carrying 217 people along with seven crew members, disappeared from radars only 23 minutes after taking off from Sharm el Sheikh on its way to the Russian city of St. Petersburg.
