The Organization of Islamic Cooperation
Jeddah - Arab Today

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemned the continuous strikes on civilians in the Syrian city of Aleppo, in which hundreds have been killed or wounded, thereby worsening the already bad humanitarian situation there.

In a statement on Tuesday, Secretary General, Dr. Yousef A. Al Othaimeen, called on the international community to urgently intervene to stop the killing and carnage in the populated areas.

He added that the continued shelling of schools and hospitals violate the basic principles of international and humanitarian law.

He also called for necessary measures to establish the humanitarian truce to enable relief convoys deliver food and medicine to the residents in the besieged areas of Aleppo and other Syrian cities and villages.

Al Othaimeen affirmed the support of the OIC for the peaceful resolution as the only option to restore security and stability to Syria within the framework of the agreed terms of reference and relevant resolutions of the Security Council.
