US denies supporting al-Nahda movement in Tunisia

US Ambassador to Tunisia Jacob Walles denied that his country supports what he termed as "political Islam" in Tunisia represented in al Nahda movement.
The US ambassador, whose term of duty has ended, said that his country does not support a certain party or a specific political approach.
The US supports democracy and consensus among Islamists and secularists, he added.
He further said that he held meetings with heads of al Nahda movement along with the various political parties in Tunisia.
