6th annual Al Ain Reads book show
Abu Dhabi - Arab Today

The 6th annual Al Ain Reads book show, organised by the National Library Division of Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority, TCA Abu Dhabi, is set to return at the Al Ain Convention Centre from October 27th – November 2nd.
More than sixty exhibitors are expected to participate in the book show this year, displaying more than 55,000 Arabic and English literary and scientific titles. Heightened interest from local publishers and book industry institutions has sparked the provision of extra space to accommodate the additional requests after the original space had fully been reserved.
In its 6th edition, Al Ain Reads returns to the emirate's heritage heartland for a week of unique cultural programmes and activities that promote reading and motivate learning, suitable for visitors of all ages. The events will include story readings, poetry evenings, book signing ceremonies and discussion seminars from notable local authors.
"Al Ain Reads has become one of Al Ain's most anticipated cultural events and serves to bring together readers and publishers. The show has steadily grown over the years, and its initiatives to support Emirati authors by offering them dialogue platforms to draw them nearer to their readers the show's accompanying programme which concentrates on promoting reading have both been very well received. Reading is the key to the future," said Juma Al Qubaisi, Executive Director of the National Library at TCA Abu Dhabi.
This year's show is designed to celebrate local culture and Emirati writers, in conjunction with the continued efforts to encourage reading to be a daily activity in people's lives. Al Ain Reads also offers visitors the opportunity to learn about and interact with the elements of Emirati culture and heritage through storytelling sessions, competitions and traditional craftwork displays which will run for duration of the show.
Special art and handicraft workshops for people with special needs will also be integrated into the programme under the supervision of trained specialists. A sign language interpreter will also be made available at the Creativity Corner by Zayed Higher Organisation for Humanitarian Care and Special Needs, so that hearing impaired children can enjoy the activities and workshops.
