Actress Manal Abdul Qawi play “Mkhfouqah..Her father’s daughter” will be displayed at Mondial Hall in Tunisia next Friday. During an interview with “Arab Today” she said that, she used to write posts on Facebook about her father and how much she loves him, when actor Jalal al-Din al-Saadi suggested she turns these writings into a play. She agreed to the idea and both of them worked together until they came up with this play.
This is the first time Manal works with Jalal al-Saadi, but it is the second time she works with director Mohamed Mounir Al – Arqi in Tunisia after “Very decent” play, and the fifth time with him after many theatre experience over the Gulf.
The paly has one leading actress, with all required elements and all of the classical theatre roles such as, comedy, drama, and portraits. According to Aristotle’s definition to the theatre, it is a complete play dominated by comedy.
Manal said that, the play tells the story of an ambitious woman who rebels against customs when she decides to be an actress. She lives on Djerba Island, and managed to get her PHD and with the help of her loving father, she began to follow her dream of becoming an actress. The heroine goes through many phases in her life such as, acting, fame, management and her relations with men, as she refused to marry without love and she still looking for that man who will share her ambitious and desires. She will also criticizes her country, expresses her patriotism, and promotes for tourism through her island and through her singing and dancing to the local melodies.
