Publications witness an increase in Morocco

The annual report of book publishing in the fields of literature, humanities and social sciences 2015/2016, revealed in a press conference in Casablanca, that the publications have achieved a growth rate of 19% compared to 2014/2015, with the digital Moroccan magazines launch by 35.25%.
Mohamed Seghir, the editor of the report, conducted by King Abdul Aziz Al-Saud Foundation for Islamic Studies and Human Sciences in Casablanca, said that the major orientations for publication, in terms of language and cognitive areas, have maintained the same pace registered in the previous report.
On the other hand, the report pointed out that the percentage of the Arab Language presence in the publishing sector has moved from 58% in the mid-eighties, to reach 5.82% in 2015/2016.
The report added that the French decreased to 394 titles in the report, covering only 5.14% of the Moroccan publications, knowing that publishing's second official language "Tamazight" remained at about 50 titles, representing only 84.1%, adding that foreign languages ​​"non-French" has witnessed low presence in the Moroccan annual publication, like Spanish by 66.0%, and English by 48.0%.
