Egypt's Mufti Shawqi Allam reiterated that Islam rejects all forms of violence and terror.
Allam's remarks came during a meeting with French Foreign Minister’s Religious Adviser on Wednesday.
He reaffirmed the Iftaa House condemnation of the attack on Charlie Hebdo daily. However, he said that freedom of speech and expression should not be taken as a pretext for insulting other people's religions.
The adviser, for his part, hailed the role of Egypt's Iftaa House and Al Azhar in fighting the radical ideology, noting that he as Christian was offended when the cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed were published.
