Minister of Culture Abdel Wahid el Nabawy said Monday that renewing the religious discourse is a shared responsibility that requires consolidation of efforts among all state bodies.
The minister's remarks were made during his participation in the 1st Scientific Forum on Tolerance and Moderation to address mechanisms for renewal of religious discourse.
The forum was attended by Minister of Awqaf Mohammad Mokhtar, Minister of Youth Khaled Abdel Aziz and Egypt's Mufti Shawqi Allam.
The minister called for continuing dialogue to put into effect the call made by President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to renew the religious discourse, interact with youths and fight the reasons behind spread of terrorist and extremist ideas.
He said the ministries of culture and awqaf have signed cooperation protocol to hold discussion forums in the various governorates to address pressing issues of the current time, noting that Azhar has been the minaret of moderation and should continue its role of spreading the moderate Islamic culture.
