FC Basel extended their lead at the top of the Super League to nine points with a 3-1 win over closest challengers Lucerne at St Jakob-Park today. Heiko Vogel's side recorded their third straight win in all competitions, with David Abraham giving them a 28th-minute lead. Lucerne levelled through substitute Moshe Ohayon midway through the second half but Alexander Frei grabbed a quickfire brace to take his league tally for the season to 12. Lucerne's misery was completed when Claudio Lustenburger was sent off in the final moments. Young Boys are now just two points behind Lucerne after a goalless draw at second-bottom Lausanne.
