Japanese teenager Takashi Usami scored his first goal for Bayern Munich in Wednesday's 6-0 rout of Ingolstadt 04 in the German Cup's second-round while holders Schalke 04 needed two late goals to progress. Schalke were being held to a goalless draw by second-division Karlsruhe before the Royal Blues scored twice in two minutes to book their place in the third round which takes place on December 21 and 22. First Schalke's Dutch striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar headed home a cross from Austria left-back Christian Fuchs on 81 minutes, then Cameroon midfielder Joel Matip headed home seven minutes from time. Bayern had no such problems against Ingolstadt, who are bottom of the second division, despite coach Jupp Heynckes fielding a weakened team shorn of many top stars. Captain Philipp Lahm, vice-captain Bastian Schweinsteiger, goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, striker Mario Gomez and play-maker Franck Ribery were all missing from the starting line-up, but the hosts still dominated at the Allianz Arena. Germany forward Thomas Mueller, Austria teenager David Alaba, reserve striker Nils Petersen, with a brace, all scored in the rout, while Ingolstadt defender Marvin Matip scored an own-goal for the guests seven minutes from time. Making just his second appearance for the Bayern first team since joining from Gamba Osaka in July, Usami, 19, came on with only 17 minutes left and showed flashes of individual brilliance as he scored on 90 minutes. There was drama as Hanover were beaten 1-0 at home by fellow Bundesliga side Mainz after extra-time. The hosts could have forced a draw after being awarded a penalty in the 122nd minute, but Ivory Coast striker Didier Ya Konan fired at the legs of Mainz goalkeeper Christian Wetklo. The biggest shock of the round saw fourth-division Holstein Kiel inflict a 2-0 defeat on Duisburg, from the second division.
