A 3-2 win away to bottom club Coritiba on Sunday sees Botafogo as the early pacesetters in the Brazilian Campeonato. Fluminese drew 2-2 at home to Figueirense despite having Wallace sent off four minutes before half-time. Marcos Junio gave the home side the lead before Caio and Pablo put the visitors in charge, only for Wagner to earn his side a share of the spoils. Andre Lima scored the only goal as Gremio beat Palmeiras 1-0 and Luis Fabiano scored for Sao Paulo in the 1-0 defeat of Bahia. The game between Santos and Sport Recife ended goalless.
