London - Arabstoday

Newcastle United's France playmaker Yohan Cabaye believes a repeat of his side's 'heroic' display at Old Trafford well help them to a victory over out-of-form Chelsea on Saturday. A superb performance from The Magpies earned them a notable 1-1 draw at Manchester United last week as Demba Ba coolly converted a controversial penalty to cancel out Javier Hernandez's lucky opener and Newcastle desperately held on for a point thanks to a string of superb saves from Tim Krul and a goal-line clearance by Danny Simpson. Cabaye has been one of the major factors in Newcastle's superb start to the season, which has seen them emerge as unlikely challengers for a UEFA Champions League spot. And he told the Northern Echo: "Against Chelsea we have to play like we did at Old Trafford, we believe in ourselves and it's important to win the game. We've got to play like the winning team. We will be at home, so we will have to play like a top-of-the-league team to win this match." The Red Devils are also in action as they try to bounce back from a three-match winless run, with the Newcastle result sandwiched between a Champions League draw with Benfica and last night's League Cup upset against Crystal Palace. Centre-half Jonny Evans is calling for his side to move on from their cup disappointment when they travel to Villa Park in Saturday's evening kick-off. Evans told MUTV: "We're very disappointed not to be in the semi-finals, but the games are coming thick and fast so we need to pick ourselves up and hopefully win on Saturday at Villa Park." Arsene Wenger is also focusing on the league after his youthful Arsenal side slipped to a 1-0 home defeat by Manchester City on Tuesday. Wenger still believes a top-four finish to be far more important than League Cup success, telling BBC Sport: "I consider the championship the most important. More than anything else it is important to finish in the top four." Arsenal travel to Wigan looking to continue their superb recent form in the league. The Gunners have not lost in the league since their defeat to Spurs in the North London derby almost two months ago. In Saturday's other fixtures, leaders Manchester City aim to maintain their 100 per cent home record when they host Norwich at the Etihad Stadium and under-fire Blackburn boss Steve Kean faces a huge fixture at home to Swansea, surely a must-win for Rovers. The remaining promoted side, QPR, welcome West Brom to Loftus Road and Bolton travel to Tottenham. Sunday's matches see Everton host Stoke and managerless Sunderland travel to fellow strugglers Wolves. The final game of the weekend on Monday night sees Liverpool return to London for the third time in two weeks as they visit Craven Cottage. Fulham have not won at the Cottage since their 6-0 mauling of QPR in early October, but will take heart from their spirited draw at the Emirates Stadium last weekend.
