Levante coach Joaquin Caparros quit on Wednesday and joined Spanish rivals Granada on a two-year deal just days after Spanish media reported he was set to sign a two-year extension to his deal with Levante.
The experienced 58-year-old tactician, who has previously coached four other Spanish clubs including Athletic Bilbao and Sevilla, guided unfashionable Levante to a highly creditable tenth place finish in the Spanish La Liga during the 2013/14 campaign.
In a statement Granada, who guaranteed their La Liga status on the final day of last season, confirmed Caparros' appointment, revealing that the club and manager have taken an option to extend it for a third year.
