London - UPI

Chinese divers remained unbeaten at the London Olympics Wednesday with a victory in the springboard synchronized event by Qin Kai and Luo Yutong. China is halfway to a sweep of the eight diving gold medals at the Games, having won seven out of eight four years ago in Beijing. Qin and Luo recorded a typically comfortable margin of victory in the final synchronized final of the Olympics. The first of the four individual events, the women's springboard, will conclude Sunday. The winning team piled up 477.00 points for their six dives in the finals and their execution of the difficult 4 1/2 somersault in the tuck position brought scores of 9.5. They totaled 104.88 points on that dive alone. Russians Ilya Zakharov and Evgeny Kuznetsov finished second with 459.63 points and Americans Troy Dumais and Kristian Ipsen won the bronze with 446.70 After going without a diving medal during the last two Olympics, the United States has picked up three of them at these Games.
