Wales manager Chris Coleman has made clear his hopes to retain the international services of Craig Bellamy until after the 2014 World CupHe also paid tribute to the Liverpool man's 'ability' and 'mentality'. Bellamy, who has 67 caps for his country, turned in star performances as The Dragons won four out of the five games prior to the death of former manager Gary Speed. Coleman said: "It is Craig's decision and I respect that. I'll try and convince him to stay because he still has something to offer. I hope he will stay. "He is someone as a player I respect and it is up to me to try and convince him. But I can't physically drive to Liverpool, stick him in the back of my car and bring him down to perform for us!" Coleman was quick to praise Bellamy's attitude on the pitch and emphasised how his commitment to the cause can influence teammates. "We need Craig Bellamy, not just because of his ability but also because of his mentality," he said. "He can be demanding and difficult but also he wants things done right and sometimes that pushes people in the right direction, so I hope he stays. I will have that conversation with him." Bellamy scrapped plans of international retirement due to his close bond with former Wales manager Speed and while Coleman appreciates it could be tough for Bellamy to carry on in Speed's absence, he remains committed to keeping hold of Liverpool's No.39. "Craig came back for Gary, I understand that, not for me," said Coleman. "Maybe he doesn't want to come back for me as I'm different to Gary. I don't take that personally. I will try and talk him around, but I need to meet with him and have a proper conversation."
