Berlin - Arabstoday

Cologne were relegated from the Bundesliga after suffering a thumping 4-1 home defeat to Bayern Munich today. Two goals from Thomas Muller, a Pedro Geromel own goal and an Arjen Robben strike rendered Milivoje Novakovic's strike irrelevant as Hertha Berlin's 3-1 win over Hoffenheim meant Cologne finished second bottom. Cologne went into the game knowing if they matched Hertha's result they would avoid automatic relegation, but in the end it was the capital club who gave themselves a second chance. Anis Ben-Hatira opened the scoring before netting a second 14 minutes from time and, although Hoffenheim, who lost Ryan Babel to an early red card, pulled a goal back through Marvin Compper, Raffael sealed victory with the last kick of the game at the Olympiastadion. They will now play the side who finish third in the 2. Bundesliga, which will be either Fortuna Dusseldorf, Paderborn or St. Pauli, for the right to play in the top flight next term. Borussia Dortmund celebrated winning their second successive title in style with a record-breaking 4-0 win over Freiburg. Jakub Blaszczykowski and Robert Lewandowski both grabbed a brace as Jurgen Klopp's men extended their unbeaten run to a record 28 matches in thrilling style. The victory also took them to a new league record of 81 points from their 34 matches as they picked up the trophy in front of over 80,000 fans at the Westfalenstadion. Klaas Jan Huntelaar bagged a brace to help third-placed Schalke end their season on a high after their 3-2 win at Werder Bremen. Julian Draxler broke the deadlock for the visitors and Claudio Pizarro equalised with a penalty before Huntelaar netted his double, with Pizarro then pulling one back. Schalke had already secured third place in the Bundesliga and a direct spot in the UEFA Champions League next season, but Huntelaar's 28th and 29th goals gave him the top scorer crown ahead of Bayern's Mario Gomez. Fine Reus farewell Marco Reus scored two goals and set up a third - scored by Igor de Camargo - in his final game for Borussia Monchengladbach as they claimed a 3-0 win at Mainz. Only a year after almost suffering relegation, 'Gladbach finish the season fourth and qualified for the preliminary round of the Champions League. Stefan Kiessling's hat-trick inspired Bayer Leverkusen as they secured automatic qualification for the UEFA Europa League with a convincing 4-1 win at Nurnberg. Robert Mak had halved the deficit after Kiessling's double put the visitors 2-0 ahead, but Andre Schurrle restored the visitors' two-goal lead in the 77th minute and Kiessling completed his treble a minute from time. Stuttgart booked a Europa League qualifying spot after scoring three goals in six second-half minutes to overturn a two-goal deficit and stun Wolfsburg 3-2. Wolfsburg looked home and dry after 60 minutes thanks to goals from Patrick Helmes and Marco Russ, but Cacau pulled a goal back in the 73rd minute, Maza equalised four minutes later and Ibrahima Traore completed the comeback 11 minutes from time. Hannover also qualified for Europe after they too came from behind to see off relegated Kaiserslautern 2-1. Pierre De Wit gave the visitors a surprise early lead but Hannover hit back thanks to an own goal by Alexander Bugera and Didier Ya Konan's strike. Augsburg celebrated their survival with a tight 1-0 win over Hamburg on the final day of their maiden year in the top flight. On-loan forward Koo Ja-cheol scored the only goal of the game in the 34th minute to seal the most successful season in Augsburg's history and condemn Hamburg to 15th - their worst season in their history.
