Didier Deschamps has called for France to display a keener cutting edge in attack when they host Belarus in their second 2014 World Cup qualifying match in Paris on Tuesday. Deschamps’ side began their campaign with a 1-0 win over Finland in Helsinki on Friday, but after taking the lead through Abou Diaby in the 20th minute, they were unable to make the game safe. It was a similar story in Deschamps’ first game in charge, a 0-0 draw with Uruguay in a friendly in Le Havre last month, and he has asked his midfielders to get forward more often to support lone striker Karim Benzema. “We have to improve the quality of our crosses and we have to be able to put more first-time balls into the box,” said the France coach.
