Lasha Shavdatashvili of Georgia and Kum Ae An of North Korea won gold medals in judo Sunday, bringing their nations their first victory at the London Olympics. Shavdatashvili defeated Miklos Ungvari of Hungary in the title match of the men's 66-kilogram class, giving Georgia a gold medal for the second straight Olympics. That nation had three wins in China four years ago. Masashi Ebinuma of Japan and Jun-Ho Cho of South Korea received bronze medals. In the women's 52-kilogram class, An was the winner over Yanet Bermony Acosta of Cuba, whose silver was the first medal for her country at these Games. Bronze medals went to Rosalba Forciniti of Italy and Priscilla Gneto of France. To win her bronze medal, Forciniti had to defeat Marie Muller and in doing so prevented Luxembourg from winning its first Summer Olympics medal in 60 years. That nation has been awarded only two Olympic medals in its history, the last coming when Josy Barthel won the 1,500-meter run by a tenth of a second over American Robert McMillen at the 1952 Games in Helsinki.
