Accra - Arabstoday

Ben Koufie, former president of the Ghana FA, has claimed his country is capable of beating all three sides in their group at the 2012 African Cup of Nations. "We have to be cautious for all the matches. It looks like a reasonably good group but I don't think it’s the group of death,” was quoted as saying on kickoff.com on Monday. “We have to be extra careful match to match. We can beat all of them," he added. The draw for the 2012 African Cup of Nations finals, conducted in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea on Saturday, brought Ghana in Group D alongside co-hosts Guinea, Mali and Botswana, in what is generally considered a tough group. Koufie who also worked as technical director for the Botswana Football Association from 1992 to 2001 believes the Black Stars’ opening game against Botswana will have huge significance. "Botswana have worked hard to reach where they are now. I think they will be a very determined lot,” he added. "They play the English style of football and they have stamina. They have been in camp for so long and just train because they have very few players from outside.” The tournament will be co-hosted by Equatorial Guinea and Gabon from 21 January to 12 February 2012. The Full Draw: Group A: Equatorial Guinea, Libya, Senegal, Zambia Group B: Ivory Coast, Sudan, Burkina Faso, Angola Group C: Gabon, Niger, Morocco, Tunisia Group D: Ghana, Botswana, Mali, Guinea
